Overview
Your Senetton Bath ceramic table top basin is crafted using a first-firing process at 1200° C – a high-temperature kiln technique that produces an exceptionally dense, vitrified ceramic body with a naturally non-porous surface. This process gives the basin superior resistance to staining, moisture absorption, and daily wear. However, like all premium bathroom fixtures, it requires mindful care to preserve its finish and structural integrity over time.
Please follow the guidelines below to protect your investment. Damage resulting from improper cleaning practices, unsuitable chemical use, or physical mishandling falls outside the scope of Senetton Bath’s warranty coverage.
Daily Cleaning – The Right Way
For routine upkeep, your basin requires nothing more than:
- Lukewarm water and a mild, pH-neutral liquid soap
- A soft, lint-free cotton cloth or a gentle sponge
- A light, circular wiping motion – never scrub aggressively
After every wash, rinse the basin thoroughly with clen water and wipe dry with a soft cloth. This prevents water deposits and soap residue from building up on the glazed surface over time.
Cleaning Products – What to Use & What to Avoid
Safe to Use
- Mild, pH-neutral bathroom cleaners (soap-based)
- Diluted white vinegar solution – for occasional limescale removal only
- Liquid dishwashing soap (gentle formulations)
- Warm water rinse after any cleaning agent
Never Use
Product Type | Risk |
Bleach or chlorine-based cleaners | Damages glaze, causes discoloration |
Ammonia-based sprays | Stripe surface finish over time |
Acidic cleaners (hydrochloric, acetic, phosphoric acid) | Etches the ceramic glaze permanently |
Abrasive scrubbing pads or wire wool | Creates micro-scratches that trap dirt |
Microfiber cloths used aggressively | Can dull the glaze with repeated friction |
Strong toilet bowl cleaners (e.g., acid-based descales) | Highly corrosive – not suitable for wash basin surfaces |
Handling Limescale & Hard Water Deposits
In areas with hard water supply, limescale may gradually form around the drain and inner basin walls.
Safe removal method:
- Soak a soft colth in a diluted white vinegar solution (1 part vinegar : 2 part water).
- Place the cloth over the affected area for 10-15 minutes.
- gently wipe clean without scrubbing.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- dry with a soft cloth immediately.
Do not use concentrated descaling with any hard tool, as this can permanently damage the 1200° C vitrified glaze.
Handling Toiletry & Cosmetic Residues
Everyday bathroom products – including liquid soaps, shampoos, hair dyes, nail varnish, perfumes, and aftershaves – can leave residues that, it left unattended, may stain or chemically react with the basin surface.
Best Practice:
- Wipe up any spills immediately with a damp soft cloth.
- Never allow coloured or chemical-heavy products to site on the basin surface for extended periods.
- After cleaning off-toiletry residue, always follow with a clean-water rinse and dry the surface.
Using Spray Cleaners Safely
If you prefer spray-format bathroom cleaners:
- Never spray directly onto the basin. pressurised sprays can force cleaning agents into drain fixtures, overflow slots, or silicone sealant joints, causing hidden degradation.
- Instead, spray the cleaner onto a soft cloth first, then apply gently to the surface.
- Wipe clean, rinse with water, and dry completely.
Always test any new cleaning product on a small, less-visible area of the basin before applying to the full surface.
What Makes Our Ceramic Different – The 1200°C First Firing Advantage
Senetton Bath basins undergo first firing at 1200°C, a technically demanding kiln temperature that most standard sanitary ceramics do not reach. This Process:
- Vitrifies the ceramic body completely. levaing virtually zero porosity
- Creates a glass-like bond that resists staining and moisture penetration
- Produces a basin that is harder, denser, and more hygienic than standard-fired alternatives
- Delivers consistant white depth and surface brilliance that lasts for decades
This superior construction means your basin is more forgiving of everyday use – but the glaze still deserves care and the right cleaning approach to remain pristine long-term.
Installation & Positioning Care
- ensure the basin is mounted on a stable, level countertop surface that can support its weight.
- Use only silicone-based sealants recommended for ceramic fixtures at the basin-counter joint.
- Do not expose the basin to direct sunlight for extended periods, as UV exposure can gradually affect certain glaze finishes.
- Avoid placing very heavy objects on the basin rim or edges – while the ceramic is dense, sharp impacts can chip the glaze.
Long-Term maintenance Tips
- Clean the basin at least twice a week to prevent build-up.
- Inspect the silicone sealant around the base annually and re-seal if cracking or peeling is noticed.
- If the drain shows signs of slow drainage, address it promptly – prolonged standing water can leave mineral staining on the inner basin walls.
- Avoid placing objects directly on the basin rim, as trust rings stain even vitrified ceramic.
